Convatec notes CMS decision on Medicare competitive bidding program in the United States
London, UK, 1 December 2025 – Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a final rule outlining updates for the CY 2026 Medicare Home Health payment system and the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program (CBP) on Friday 28 November 2025.
The final rule is consistent with the draft CMS proposal on DMEPOS announced on 30 June 2025. At our H1 25 results we gave guidance on the potential impact of CBP and this remains unchanged. We continue to expect a 1-2% reduction in Group sales in the year of implementation, with confirmation now provided of an implementation date by CMS expected 1 January 2028. CMS will now need to follow an extensive process to implement the changes with additional details still to be determined.
